If you are following a low-salt diet a small amount of basil will add that little bit of flavor to any main dish

Basil- The Herb of Love. When dried, basil develops a rich, mellow flavor that, in small amounts, lends a fuller flavor to any savory dish. Try 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon to replace half of the salt added to any 4-6 serving main dish, and then adjust to personal taste.
